The configuration setting Enable Ajax Load Detail in SDCP General helps optimize the page performance, especially when the configurable product has many attributes, which could be the reason for the slow loading of the product page.
Specifically, if you accessed the configurable product without the configuration enabled, the page would load all of the child products in it. But if you enable the configuration, the child product will only be loaded when you click on it.
