Could Auto Invoice for Magento 2 work properly with Virtual products and Cash on Delivery payment method?

Question:

We use "cash on delivery" for specific customer groups. I want to know if M2 Auto Invoice will change the status of an order to "complete" like what happens if I issue an invoice manually to a cash on delivery order.
Basically, we want the invoices to issue automatically, and the order status to go to complete.
Our "cash on delivery" products are "virtual", so there is no shipping for them. What happens if the product type is "virtual" with no shipping?
